Are there any highlights from Mays in the NFL so far?
maisler (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Mays had a much shorter distance to run than Best

You are absolutly right, but on 3rd and 1, there is a reason mays was lined up so close, he was there to help stop the dive

@mrgz4u I Totally Agree

No, but you are.
1: Because the players aren't in pads. Ever seen an NFL player on the field without pads on? (in this era of football) Nope.
2: it's 40 yards, the only thing it's good for is the measure of burst and acceleration. It has no bearing on a player's top end speed whatsoever.
"scouts use it as the primary source of a player's speed"
No... they use game film for that.

I've been a highschool defensive coordinator for 3 years now, and I agree with you completely. a FS should help out in run support once the running back makes it past the second level (LBs). However, if I see my FS making the tackle on a dive play, my Mike Backer is going to spend some quality lunch on the bench for not taking care of it. Dive plays are on the LBs. It was a failure if the FS has to make the tackle.

some running backs... Best... can get past the "front 7"
so yes it does make sence
bIGDawGJak3 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
because i play free safety nd they are responsible for RUN support if the running back makes it past the backers
